Drawing. In. The. Time. Of. Corona.

Drawing in the Time of Corona is a personal passion project born out of an idea and need to connect and remain connected by sharing our art at the beginning of the Covid pandemic. Our drawing club became a highlight each week for many and gave some simple purpose when the world felt a bit chaotic and unpredictable. People who had never drawn before were all of sudden excited to be drawing with a community of other people, it was very exciting. Some of the most unexpected friendships were born from our little club. Over the years, we had a variety of number artists draw with us. We pick a subject once a week, individuall draw the subject and then post all our drawings to the Drawing in the Time of Corona Instagram account. Many new, unexpected artists grew out of the club and new found, unexpected love for drawing grew in many. Our little club was a grounding place for us all.

Ricci Miu, a California native, is a recent transplant to the Western Slope of Colorado from Denver; with her family and two bunnies. Ricci was drawn to graphic design and photography over 10- years ago as an opportunity to capture and tell stories without using many words and to create a pause in our lives to stop and appreciate the beauty of those in-between, fleeting moments.
Slope Designs is an extension and space for her to explore the creative process, an opportunity to provide attractive design, photography, and brand identities that capture attention and create recognition among the rest. In essence, engaging design can unfold and attract without heavy imagery, bulky text, and overused graphics to build uniqueness and character. It is an opportunity to explore the meaning of less is more in art and expression. Together we can breathe life into new things.

Design and photography are clay in the potter’s hand; it’s the molding, the shaping, and the creating uniqueness that makes her heart beat a little fast. Design is a collaborative process, and your input and vision as the client are invaluable to the soul of your brand. Homeschooling is the heart of her home, but so are creativity, exploration, faith, and design. When not knee-deep and lost in exciting books, she is often outside biking, paddle boarding with her family, or creating something with her hands like cooking, gardening, drawing, sewing. Let’s work together. Let’s create something that speaks to you, the viewer, the passersbyer, and the quality of the product or service. In the chaos of our everyday lives, she believes art in a variety of mediums remains a grounding force, one she’s drawn to capturing, seeking, appreciating, and sharing, and thus the moment will remain still a little longer.
